So, Week 1 of Living Your Faith Summer Camp has come to an end. We started our final Friday with bag packing and clearing out of our rooms, a sad time as it meant it really hit home how much we had enjoyed the week.
After another good breakfast, we took part in a ‘Grill the Priest’ session with Fr Tom! Thankfully, Fr Tom wasn’t put on a barbecue until he was nicely cooked through, but the children were able to ask him any question about their faith, the church, his vocation or just a question they needed answering which was playing on their mind. We had some really deep and meaningful questions about creation, why the church said certain things about people and even a question on what animal Jesus could be compared to (Fr Tom’s answer: A koala as they are all cuddly and warm – someone else said later that they also don’t let go!). It was great to hear the children asking such important questions, and Fr Tom was really put to the test.
All too soon, parents were arriving and we were getting ready for our final farewell Mass. It was a packed chapel and the children were pleased to see their parents, who were equally pleased to see their children! We had a lovely celebration of our week with every child playing a full part in the Mass at some point. Stephen led the thank yous to all the different people who had made the week possible, and after a rousing final hymn it was time for everyone to go home!
We had a great time this week at Nympsfield, and we hope that all of the children did too. We are already starting to think about the Summer Camps in 2018, so check back here for information in July about how to book a place.
